Digital Twin

Aug·e manages all your data in a well-organised inventory, a digital twin. This is an integrated, digital library that covers all your rooms, technical installations, energy flows, meters and submeters (the possibilities are almost endless). Through clear dashboards and 3D models, you get a convenient visual representation of your building’s use and consumption.

Besides a stunning 3D digital rendering of your building, the digital twin is also an excellent way of standardising the data of all your assets, which are often unconnected. This is perhaps its greatest added value: the digital twin brings the data of all assets together into one coherent and connected whole, forming the basis for many applications and possibilities.

Forge Platform

To optimise the user experience, aug·e uses the cloud development platform Forge. This was developed by Autodesk, the technology firm that also develops Autocad and Revit.  Forge’s APIs allow us to analyse a wide variety of BIMs (Building Information Models) efficiently and extract useful information quickly.

Once all the data have been mapped and made available, aug·e runs a host of powerful algorithms on them based on artificial intelligence. This allows the platform to expose potential issues in your environment, but also to see where there is room for new services and functionalities. In this way, aug·e is constantly providing you with new opportunities to create added value in a wide variety of areas: energy savings, cost efficiency, increased comfort, community building, and so on.

Want to know the best part? As there is a lot of machine learning behind aug·e, the platform is constantly learning. The longer aug·e knows your environment (and the more data are available), the smarter and more efficient the system becomes and the better the predictions are. Aug·e uses the digital twin as the backbone for a whole arsenal of possible optimisations, from self-consumption to peak shaving. It analyses the energy flows in your building(s) and uses dynamic and complex algorithms based on artificial intelligence to predict and adjust energy consumption. With success, as energy consumption in buildings equipped with aug·e’s Smart Energy Management System is reduced by 30% on average. What’s more, aug·e doesn’t just consider internal data in its decisions: it also takes external factors such as weather forecasts and energy market prices into account.

At aug·e, we set great store by data. Not only are data an essential ingredient of our system, they are also of great value to many other modern applications. The aug·e digital twin platform was specifically designed to share data with other applications. Our system forms a link between very different applications that are often not easy to interconnect. Applications that we don’t make ourselves, but which we control. This is only possible if aug·e speaks a universal language: the Digital Twin Definition Language (DTDL) from Microsoft Azure. This is a programming language we use to describe the physical world so that applications and machines can understand it and integrate it easily into apps.

Accessible ecosystem

The aug·e platform is deliberately open and transparent, allowing external developers to graft their own apps and ideas onto our system in a secure and accessible way. With the aug·e API, anyone can connect their own apps, independent of our programmers. A successful strategy, because our ecosystem is growing steadily: the number of applications and possibilities in the aug·e app on the Azure platform is constantly increasing.
